Vietnam is the number one country in the world in terms of pepper production and export. Currently, the total pepper cultivation area currently stands at 130,000 hectares with an annual output of 205,200 MT and Vietnam’s pepper is available in 110 countries and territories in the world and makes up 60% of the global market. Pepper has a high economic value for local farmers, contributing significantly to the country’s economy. In Vietnam, pepper is currently grown in the provinces of Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Gia Lai, and other locations. Besides, additional pepper-growing locations in Vietnam include Phu Quoc, Nghe An, Binh Thuan, and others.

Vietnamese pepper is popular in black pepper and white pepper with characteristics of taste and color, which are used for decoration or medicinal use. Although black pepper accounts for 95% of Vietnam’s total pepper exports, white pepper is more popular in European countries.

Central Highland, which is the largest pepper production area in Vietnam, with a climate of two distinct seasons, high rainfall, ideal temperature, and humidity as well as the high-temperature amplitude between day and night, which helps the pepper plants accumulate fragrant compounds. Additionally, the rich soil and seasonal rainfall here offer good conditions for pepper. Additionally, growing on flowering vines, pepper is cultivated by small-scale farmers, and brings in higher prices than rice and other crops.

High-quality product: With fertile basalt, a good quality crop due to the intercropping between pepper and coffee, it is ideal for growing black pepper in Vietnam. The Vietnam black pepper has huge, firm, spicy, and aromatic. Furthermore, pepper is sun-dried to a humidity level of 13% without overcoming any chemical process. In addition, farmers carefully eliminate low-quality seeds to help Vietnamese pepper to be suitable and meet all export criteria in the world.
